STORM ON THE LAKE Playmobil Activity, 14/11/202205/08/2023 A storm is a large-scale, violent weather phenomenon called a synoptic storm, usually between 200 and 1,000 km in diameter, characterized by rapid winds and intense precipitation. It can be accompanied by thunderstorms with lightning and thunder as well as hail and tornadoes. Some storms have a special name such as tropical cyclones (hurricanes, typhoons or tropical storms), extratropical cyclones, freezing rain or snow storms, etc. There are also storms characterized by winds carrying substances into the atmosphere (blizzard, dust storm, sand storm, snow storm…). A storm can seriously damage a country or a region. In the strict meteorological sense of the word, at sea, a storm is a low-pressure system that creates an average wind speed of more than 90 km/h (wind force 10 or higher on the Beaufort scale). However, the popular use of the word is not so restrictive and on land, we speak of a storm when the depression produces violent gusts, which cause damage, and heavy rainfall (source : wikipedia) ShareClick to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Like this:Like Loading...
